Serene Sound for Seniors:

An Alternative Approach for supporting Wellness in our seniors

Why:

Sound therapy is increasingly become popular among seniors. One of the main reasons for this is the involvement of non-invasive and self-healing techniques in the process. Many consider it to be an ideal way to maintain mind-body wellness. The level or ability to hear is not important in this treatment as the vibrations from the instruments will resonate through the body regardless of the quality of hearing.

How it works:

Sound therapy can be very helpful to keep the brain of a senior person active. This therapy is known to have the power of balancing the connection between one's voice, ear and the brain, which in turn make the seniors feel well and truly alive. Sound therapy aims to organize the notes in such a manner that the body cells resonate and respond to them.

This can be held as group events. It is a 60 minute session where participant lays down or sit depending on their comfort. They are gently brought through breathing exercises to drop them in a meditative state. The listeners are then brought on a sonic journey using tibetan bowls, gongs, drums, rattles, voice and tuning forks. The sounds charm the mind into stillness by the end of the session and there will be a deep relaxation for each participant.

There is the added option to make sound therapy more successful, to design individual programs. These are designed depending on the present health condition or specific needs of a senior. This can be a program intensive over a period of days or over the course of one session. With the right sounds, this therapy can have a positive impact at the cellular level, leading to improved conditions such as arthritis, leading to improved mobility. A better sleep, resolution to insomnia is often reported. Also decrease in pain, reduction in depression and panic attacks. Regardless the client always experiences a deep relaxation during and after the treatment. Sound therapy is really a good alternative approach to try and maintain most seniors overall wellness challenges, where it can work on a self healing approach from within the person's body.
